An exciting fall season for Breakers Academy
U17 Academy team in the playoffs zone following big wins against MLS powerhouse teams

This fall season has been one of great change and excitement for Breakers Academy, with the addition of new teams, new coaches, new players and new game facilities!   The addition of the U15 Academy has expanded the existing team structure, which now includes Academy teams at the U12, U13, U14, U15, U16/17 and U18/19 age groups.

Two highly-qualified coaches have joined our excellent coaching staff : Shane Carew (U17 Academy) and Simon Tobin (U15 Academy).  Shane has extensive coaching experience at the collegiate, competitive and youth levels and currently is Men’s Head Soccer Coach at CSUMB.  Simon has over 30 years of collegiate coaching experience as well as extensive experience at the club level. Both coaches have been fantastic additions to our talented coaching staff: Ramiro Corrales (U19 and U13 Academy teams),  Mike Runeare (U15 Academy), Tim Martin (U15 Academy), Raul Olvera (U14 and U18 Academy teams) and Johnny Olaya (Goalkeeper Coach).

The Academy teams have had a successful fall season despite a travel-heavy schedule including trips to Southern California, Arizona, Seattle, Portland and soon, Florida.  The U17 Academy has had the best results of the older age groups, with big wins against MLS powerhouse teams L.A. Galaxy, San Jose Earthquakes and Portland Timbers, and currently finds itself a wildcard in the playoff rankings above all other Northern California Academy teams.  The U19 team has a strong group of returning players and has welcomed several new players to the team, with very competitive results.   The U15 Academy team has grown impressively with the addition of over 10 new players  and has adjusted well to the higher travel and competition demands this year. The U13 and U14 teams had a good season and a strong performance at the Regional Showcase recently held in Oceanside, California. The U12 Academy teams have enjoyed these first few months in the Academy program and have grown tremendously through the higher level of competition that the Academy provides.
